CORINA

HERNANDEZ

Corina currently serves as an executive board member of Be the Change NJ. Her role within the organization changes often, which is one of the reasons she enjoys serving in her position. She is first and foremost a volunteer that truly believes in the mission of this organization. As a board member, Corina meets monthly with the executive team to plan events, talk about new partnerships, and debrief on past projects. She has been with Be the Change NJ since 2014, when she started her graduate internship with the group. She worked closely with the director, Dr. Norma Bowe, Rutgers Law Clinic, and other board members to make this group a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. Corina works full-time at Union County College as a STEM tutoring coordinator.

Eleven years ago, she started a community service and activist group called “Be the Change” fashioned after Gandhi’s famous quote, “Be the change you wish to see in the world”. She has organized community services projects across the country; addressing issues of social justice, food justice and human rights.

Dr. Bowe is a tenured Professor in the College of Education at Kean University in Union, New Jersey. She developed the course curriculum for Death in Perspective which has a three year waiting list and is the subject of the book The Death Class: A True Story About Life, by Erika Hayasaki, a former LA Timesjournalist. In addition to teaching courses in death education, community mental health, and public health, she is the author of Perspectives in Community Mental Health, published by Kendall Hunt. She has authored and co-authored articles as well as text book chapters in health education.

EDYTA

DROBNIEWSKA

Edyta is a board member for Be The Change. She has been a member of Be The Change for the last 9 years and became a board member once the organization became a 501c3. She became a member because she wanted to make a change in people's lives. Edyta was so  disturbed  to see so many people that were in need of help.  She believes that all it takes is one person to make a difference. Not only is Edyta a devoted board member, she is also a full time kindergarten teacher. Edyta enjoys working with children. When be the change has projects that involve children, She says "I am on it"! In her spare time, she enjoys dancing!!
