DAVID TEIXEIRA
BOARD MEMBER
David Teixeira has an undergraduate degree in Physical Education & Health Teaching. He has also several soccer coaching diplomas and is a former coach and Board Member for the Ironbound Soccer Club in Newark, one of the largest urban soccer programs in the country. After being born in Newark, NJ at the age of 6, his parents moved their family back to their native country, Portugal. After graduating high school, in 2000 he volunteered to join the Portuguese Armed Forces, where he became an Army Ranger serving in the Special Operations Unit. Shortly after returning alone to the United States in 2003, he joined the Army National Guard and enrolled in college as a Kean University
part-time student. Early 2017, along with other eleven members of BTC, he became CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) certified and was appointed BTC’s CERT Leader. David Teixeira is currently teaching Physical Education & Health at the Joseph Battin School #4 in Elizabeth, NJ. He is a dynamic educator and an inspiring leader in that school’s community.
